Step 1
Give your jar a good wash and dry before you start. Download andprint out the template. You can find the recipe in the download areanext to the pictures for this creative idea. For the design, you'll need afine-tipped edding 780 gloss paint marker in white or a colour of yourchoosing.

Step 2
Copy the mitten design onto your brown paper and cut around theoutside. Next, add the words "Joy in a jar" and other design elements(you might find light-coloured photocopy paper helpful for this.)
Next, you'll need to activate your gloss paint marker. To do this, shakethe pen vigorously with the cap still on. Next, remove the cap andcarefully press the nib up and down a few times on a piece ofabsorbent paper until the ink fills the tip. Once you're ready, use yourgloss paint marker to add a series of fine lines to create the mittensleeves.

Step 3
Draw around the outside of the mittens and go over the words "Joy ina jar" using your gloss paint marker.

Step 4
Glue one end of the ribbon to the back of each mitten.

Step 5
Cut out the recipe from the template provided and glue it onto theback of one of the mittens.

Step 6
Pour the dry ingredients from the recipe into your jar, layer by layer, and screw the lid on tight. Tie the ribbon around the jar - and that's it:your gift is ready!
