And they’re practical, too: whether your table is made of glass or wood, it will stay clean and protected from scratches and potentially-hard-to-remove stains. All you need to design your own custom cork coasters is the edding 400 range of fine-tipped permanent markers. If you want to draw ultra-fine lines or detailed motifs, go for the edding 404 permanent marker – its nib measures a mere 0.75 mm. We used black for our coaster design, but you can create a brighter decoration if you prefer.

Step 1

You can see all the materials you need at a glance in our photo. Theedding 400 offers an assortment of 10 smudge-proof, waterproofshades, while the edding 404 comes in a choice of four -just pick outyour favourite colours.

Step 2

Think up some nice motifs or suitable wording for your design. Usingthe ultra-fine edding 404 permanent marker, we started with a borderof little exclamation marks all around the edge of the coasters.

Step 3

Hand lettering written in a fun style can look highly decorative. Youcan also emphasise or underline specific words and enhance themwith tiny motifs or graphic patterns. You can even add variety to yourtable decor by writing a different phrase or saying on each coaster.
