Upcycling idea for your kitchen accessories

Fancy giving your kitchen accessories a modern concrete look? If you do, simply grab some edding concrete-effect permanent spray and we’ll show you how to create some great-looking accessories from old glass jars and other items. Don’t worry if your jars still have old labels attached; these can be easily removed using the edding label removal marker. Who knows... once you’ve created your first upcycled accessories, you might find other items around your kitchen also in need of a similar refresh!

Step 1

You can see everything you need for this project in the photo above.The spray paint we've used is edding 5200 concrete-effect permanentspray (941).

Step 2

If you don't want to paint the whole jar, you can mark off a sectionusing a strip of masking tape, as shown here. This will create a stylishsee-through section on your finished jar.

Step 3

Before you start spraying, cover your workspace with protectivesheeting or paper. Our Permanent spray basics page on our websitealso includes all you need to know on how to create the perfect spraypaint finish. For best results, we recommend holding the spray canaround 25 cm from your painting surface and applying the paint in acriss-cross motion. Once you've applied a coat of paint to your jar (orother item), leave to dry.

Step 4

Once the paint is completely dry, carefully remove any masking tape.

Step 5
